Indiana: Protect the Natural Resources Commission
Tomorrow, Friday, January 30, the full House of Representatives could vote on HB 1003, which includes a dangerous provision that seeks to eliminate the Natural Resources Commission (NRC).  If the NRC is not removed, the very body that ensures our hunting and fishing rights are managed with transparency and public input will vanish.

Please use the Take Action button to email your state Representative and urge him/her to remove the Natural Resources Commission from the list of agencies slated for elimination in HB 1003.

As sportsmen and women, we are the financial backbone of Indiana’s conservation efforts. Through our license fees and federal excise taxes derived from the purchase of firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, and fishing gear, we fund the state's wildlife management. In return, we deserve a seat at the table. The NRC provides that seat, serving as a vital independent forum where we can provide public testimony on seasons, bag limits, and critical regulations.

Why we must take action today:

  • Loss of Your Voice: Without the NRC, management decisions for our state parks and fish and wildlife will be moved "behind closed doors." We cannot allow bureaucrats to make life-altering decisions for our outdoors without public accountability.
  • Threat to Traditions: The NRC is responsible for approving hunting and fishing seasons. HB 1003 offers no clear plan for who will manage these duties once the commission is gone, creating a vacuum that could lead to mismanagement.
  • Erosion of Trust: The NRC acts as the ultimate authority for administrative appeals. Removing this layer of oversight craters fairness and erodes the trust between the state and the people who pay for conservation.

Do not forget to share this urgent alert with your family, friends, and fellow sportsmen. Urge them to use the Take Action button and help protect our cherished fish and wildlife resources by ensuring the Natural Resource Commission does not get eliminated. Our wild spaces belong to the people, not the politicians.

There has never been a more crucial time in sportsmen’s history than now to be involved and engaged in protecting our way of life. If we remain silent, others will shape the outcome. We cannot allow that to happen in the Hoosier State. Urge your family and friends to join you and the Sportsmen’s Alliance in the fight against the rising tide of animal extremism and gun control activism. The legacy of hunting, fishing, and trapping depends on our actions today.
