DPMs: Tell CMS to Protect Payment for Modifier 25 Services
Proposed Medicare payment cuts for Modifier 25 services could reduce reimbursement for podiatric physicians and make it more difficult to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care. Included in the proposed CY 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) is a policy that would reduce Medicare payment by 50 percent for lower-valued services when a separately identifiable evaluation and management (E/M) service is provided on the same day as a procedure. This proposal would disproportionately affect podiatric physicians and undervalue medically necessary care.

Help us urge CMS to withdraw this proposal. To make your comment more impactful, please personalize this letter by adding one or two examples from your own practice. Explain how this proposal would affect your patients, your practice, or your ability to provide care. Personalized comments are more likely to be considered than identical form letters.
