NYC must investigate Jay Varma & Rehire NYC Employees who Refused the Shot

Rally, NYC City Hall, Mon., 9/23, Noon

NYC Council Demand City Rehire

COVID Shot Refusers

Investigate Jay Varma

The New York City Council Commonsense Caucuses will hold a rally and press conference on Monday, 9/23, Noon at NYC City Hall, calling for a full investigation into former Health Commissioner and COVID czar Jay Varma. The City Councilmembers are also calling for the Mayor Adams to drop all legal efforts to prevent the rehiring of City employees fired for refusing the COVID shot.

This is the first time in four years that we have had organized support from members of the New York City Council. This is a huge step forward not only in providing justice to the fired workers, but to investigate the disastrous response of New York City to COVID.

Varma’s recently videoed admission that he was hosting MDMA-fueled orgies, and dance parties with hundreds in attendance, while at the same time he was forcing schools to close, shutting down the economy, firing people for refusing the shot, and imposing bogus social distancing and masking rules is beyond rank hypocrisy. It displays that he did not really believe in the need for measures that were doing great damage to the public at extraordinary cost that he was imposing on the people of New York.

Use the panel to the right to send messages to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Attorney General Leticia James, and (only for NYC residents) New York City Councilmembers, supporting rehiring the fired workers, and investigating Jay Varma.

Varma was also videoed saying that both he and Mayor Bill de Blasio did not see a public health need for shutting-down schools, but did so in response to pressure from the United Federation of Teachers led by Michael Mulgrew and Randi Weingarten. Many students, especially students with special needs, will never recover from the damage done to their educations by the school shutdowns and the wholly inadequate online alternative.

Councilmember Robert Holden stated, “Mayor Adams must immediately drop all appeals of lawsuits filed by City workers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 mandates. These individuals dedicated their lives to this City, and especially in light of these revelations, it is unconscionable to continue fighting against them in court.”

It is far past time for New York City to rehired fired workers, and to launch a full investigation into New York City’s draconian, incredibly expensive, ineffective, and grossly hypocritical response to COVID.

Let it begin now.
