Demand Congress Protect Food Assistance for Immigrant Families
Throughout the Trump presidency, attacks on immigrant communities have become more brazen, frequent, and dangerous.

In ways that are shocking the conscience of most Americans, this administration is conducting reckless and even deadly mass deportation efforts, scapegoating and demonizing immigrants, and advancing executive orders that threaten families and imperil our economy. These actions extend to our food systems, where the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has embraced the opportunity to spread misinformation about, instill fear in, and strip nutrition assistance from immigrant communities.

Attempts to abuse sensitive data, remove immigrant rights and protections, arbitrarily label immigrants a “public charge,” and popularize demeaning rhetoric are causing otherwise eligible immigrant families to fear accessing federal anti-poverty programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This creates and exacerbates hunger in immigrant communities across the country.

Please join MAZON in urging Congress to treat our immigrant communities with the dignity they deserve, protect their access to food assistance, and reverse President Trump’s hateful actions against our neighbors.
