On February 3, 2026, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that includes key priorities for the neuromuscular disease community and represents years of hard work and dedication from MDA advocates. The bill was signed into law and contains strong funding for medical research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In total, $48.7 billion in funding, a 1% increase over fiscal year 2025. Further, the bill includes policies to ensure that neuromuscular disease research remains strong.
