11/06/23 PHARMACY VOTER ALERT: Special Congressional Election Joins 5 States in Nov. 7 Elections!
Action Alert
NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on YOU to engage in tomorrow’s November 7th elections that will elect 2 Governors and hundreds of state legislators across Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Virginia. A special election will also be held in the state of Rhode Island to elect the U.S. Representative for the 1st Congressional District.

November 7th is a big day! Kentucky will elect its Governor. Mississippi will determine its Governor, 52 State Senators, and 122 State Representatives. New Jersey will determine the fate of 40 State Senate and 80 State Representative seats. Virginia will also select 40 State Senators and 100 State Representatives.

Although Louisiana technically hosts its election November 18, Louisianians can participate in Early Voting ahead of the official election day. Early voting will be available until Nov. 11, excluding Friday, Nov. 10 (observed for Veterans Day) with polling locations open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Louisiana elections operate differently than other states in that if a candidate received more than 50% of the vote in its October Primary, that candidate wins. If no candidate does that, the top two vote recipients—regardless of party—advance to its November 18 general election. Given the outcomes of the state’s October 14th primary for Governor, 39 State Senators, and 105 State Representatives, 2 State Senators and nearly 20 State Representatives will continue their run for office on November 18.

The state of Rhode Island will also hold a special election to knight a U.S. Representative for the 1st Congressional District on November 7.
