Unless Texas policymakers act now, patient access to the level of healthcare services that have been available at their local pharmacy will be in jeopardy. House Bill 3540 by Rep. Sam Harless (R) – would help simplify access to pharmacy vaccine services for Texas families and allow pharmacies to continue to use of the entire pharmacy team (including pharmacy technicians) to deliver this care.

As a result, public reliance on neighborhood pharmacies for essential pharmacy care services – including vaccines, testing services, and other important clinical care – has deepened. With 83% of Texans saying it is very or somewhat easy to access pharmacies, ranking their accessibility the highest among healthcare destinations tested, pharmacies have effectively connected millions of patients – including those who do not otherwise have a primary care provider – to important healthcare services.
