Tell Congress to Ensure Implementation and Oversight of Disability Education Protections and Programs

For 50 years, students with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and other disabilities have benefited from the programs and protections established through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Cure SMA has long advocated for full funding and enforcement of IDEA, as students with SMA and their families often face barriers to obtaining the educational accommodations and supports they need to succeed in school.

The changes and layoffs at the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, which administers and oversees IDEA programs, could worsen these challenges and reduce federal oversight of disability education protections.

Tell Congress to protect the educational rights and accommodations of students with SMA and other disabilities.
