State Legislative Talking Points

  • Parents need access to child care in order to work.
  • The cost of care is not affordable for too many families.
  • Please support an increase in child care funding so that more families can receive help accessing child care.
  • Additional funds would also help create recruitment and retention strategies for child care workers.
  • Child care workers earn low pay. Other service sector jobs pay much more.
  • When programs can't hire or keep staff, families lose out. It means programs are able to serve fewer children.
  • Increasing child care funding is an economic growth strategy for our state.
